Kahk
Kahk also known as Egyptian Eid cookies are traditional shortbread biscuits originating from Ancient Egypt and heavily associated with Eid al-fitr, Sham al Nasim/Easter, and Christmas. Egyptian kahk may be the oldest form of short pastry in the world and are likely the precursor to Oriental treats such as maamoul and mooncakes. French short pastries like, pâte sucrée (sweet), and pâte sablée (sandy/rich) are almost certainly "borrowed". Kahk is characterised by a rich, buttery, and crumbly texture, heavily dusted with powdered sugar, and often made more indulged with fillings made with nuts, honey, and dried fruits.
